On Tuesday, May 31, the construction of the largest glass bridge ever came to an end in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Hunan province, China.
The bridge is over 400 meters long and 6 meters wide connecting two precipices 300 meters above the ground.

The park's authorities had expected that first visitors could step on the glass catwalk on May 1, but the opening was postponed to July due to bad weather conditions.

A walk over such a bridge is a real challenge. You should have a lot of guts to go over the bridge that runs 300 meters above the canyon's floor. However, engineers say that the construction passed dozens of tests for safety. The bridge was also tested for resistance to temperature fluctuations and winds.
The bridge has a capacity of 800 people at a time.

The bridge will surely be popular among tourists as they will be able to cross Grand Canyon, which is considered to be the most picturesque in Hunan province.
Lots of travelers, both locals and foreigners, visit Zhangjiajie National Forest Park daily. It gained in extra popularity due to the fact that photographs from the park inspired the floating mountains of James Cameron's film “Avatar.”

The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge is not the only glass bridge in China. In 2015, a 250-meter glass bridge was built in the country's other park. Another rival to the brand new glass landmark is Hero Bridge (pictured) also located in Hunan province.
